Architecture.

Wondering.

The presence of Daniel Libeskind as architecture professor at the academy where I studied made my awareness of the constructed environment very intense. From him I acquired a sense of perception of space and the ability to create spaces through shape, light, shadow and size. Taken together these formed my view on what architecture is and broadened it. Looking is architecture: What color is the wall? Seemingly no color, really looking reveals so many colors in a wall. So not the knowing of the seeing but the looking itself contributes to the wonderment of space and what it is.
When I returned to the Netherlands after Cranbrook Art Academy, MI, my views on architecture led me naturally to doing commissions in public buildings. Combinations of colorful sculptural devices, bound throughout a building, mounted on entrees created new unities.
The house I still live in after my husband passed away was designed by us and has been published in numerous Dutch magazines. The house is frequently rented for commercial photography shoots because of its unique, inspiring character. In addition, art can be seen everywhere in the house.
